Community Intervention: Ukrainian Village The Ukrainian community in the Chicagoland area is â€Å"scattered† but its core neighborhood is located within Chicago’s â€Å"Ukrainian Village.† Ukrainian Village in Chicago has been the focus of the lives of the Ukrainian people for a vast majority of the 20th and 21st century. This central area continues with: â€Å"three major Ukrainian churches, two Ukrainian banks, a Ukrainian grammar school, the Ukrainian National Museum, a Ukrainian Cultural Center, two Ukrainian youth organizations, and many Ukrainian restaurants, stores and businesses.† (Ukrainian National Museum, 2015). Ukrainian Village is located on both the Northern and Southern borders of Chicago, IL; otherwise known as â€Å"Division†. Its Eastern and Western boarders lie within Damen and â€Å"Western† (Bailey, 2007), Ukrainian Village; rich and abundant to the heritage of Ukraine is the home for four waves of Ukrainian immigrants. Though outside of their homeland, Ukrainian immigrants have kept a culturally authentic history outside of Ukraine itself where Ukrainian art, culture and heritage remain alive. Ukraine is known to be one of the smallest Eastern European countries. Though small in size, respectively, the country can make up for in nationalism, and pride.
